It is this thing called SharePoint!

Whilst SharePoint 2010 is more intuitive than previous versions, mainly due to emulating the Office 2010 interface, it is still a new environment that users need to get comfortable with. In many cases how we expect users to transition users across to SharePoint is not considered and typically (because it is an IT managed change) a project ends when the final team site has been created.

It goes something like this…. Continue reading ‘It is this thing called SharePoint!’

PRMA Case Study

PRMA Matrix is the name given to the new SharePoint based Intranet for PRMA Consulting based in the UK.   Sei-IS Business Consultancy have managed the design, build and implementation of the project as well as the efforts required to change the business to adopt the new installation which of course is still happening.

Shortly we will be adding a link to SharePoint Boutique who partnered to complete the project.  They will produce a case study for the technical details of the build.  This is just an overview of the project and functionality delivered.  More information available from SteveDalby@sei-is.be .

Pure Knowledge: Nothing More-Nothing Less

I recently had to outline for a client the steps they needed to take to move from a solutions driven Information strategy to a governance driven Information strategy.  The objective was to consider how this apparent low-priority set of tasks could in the longer term mean cost efficient management of company data and even today save resource time by reducing the time to find the most relevant data.

The neutralised report is attached which I will hope might assist you in fleshing out your Information Management plans.  Open here  Short White Paper on Information Management

100 Million Items in a list and SharePoint 2010 Conference Las Vegas.

First day yesterday and I did have to twitter everyone to say that Microsoft does have a winner in SharePoint 2010 although they do seem to have forgotten a few things.

Missing things tend to be small things that annoy when building sites and lists rather than large things that stops a coder delivering functionality… a typical example is the failure to provide a cascading Look-up field… which if you are not familiar would allow you to include a field in a SharePoint form that provides a drop down choice from another list within the same site.  Continue reading ’100 Million Items in a list and SharePoint 2010 Conference Las Vegas.’
